Is on-campus housing available at all SJR State Campuses?
No, on-campus housing is ONLY available at the Palatka Campus.
What does single and double occupancy mean?
Single occupancy means one student per bedroom. Double occupancy means two students per bedroom.
What is the lease term?
The lease term covers the academic year, the fall and spring semesters. While it does not span a full 12 months, it aligns with the college's academic calendar.
Does my application require a guarantor, and what is a guarantor?
Yes, you will be able to indicate a guarantor in your application. Simply put, a guarantor is someone who accepts financial obligation/risk if your housing fees are not current.
What amenities will be included?
Residents can enjoy furnished units, high-speed internet, study lounges, and much more.
Are utilities included?
Yes, utilities such as water, electricity, and internet are included, making it easy to enjoy a hassle-free living experience.
What are the semester rates for single occupancy vs. double occupancy?
The semester rate for single occupancy is $4750, and the semester rate for double occupancy is $3800.
Can I use financial aid for housing?
Yes, you may use financial aid to cover housing expenses, in accordance with your financial aid package.
I have an emotional support animal; can I bring them to live with me?
Emotional support animals will need to be approved by the office of disability services.
What are the cancellation terms?
Our goal is to see you at move-in this August, but if your plans change, the cancellation policy is as follows:
- Cancel before June 1, $500 cancellation fee
- Cancel after June 1, $1000 cancellation fee
- Cancel after August 1, $1500 cancellation fee
Can I choose my roommate?
Yes, and we hope you will! In the application, there is a section to indicate and invite a preferred roommate. Please note that your roommate also needs to agree to and indicate you as their preferred roommate.
When is Move-in?
Move-In typically takes place the Friday before the start of fall semester classes. Exact timing and details will be shared with residents ahead of the semester.
Can I bring extra furniture when I move in?
While all apartments are fully furnished, you may want to have access to some extra storage. Any furniture brought upon move-in must not impede fire safety expectations and must be removed upon move-out.
When is Move-Out?
Move-Out is generally scheduled for the day following graduation at the end of the spring semester.
Exact timing and details will be shared with residents during the semester.
Can I request an earlier Move-In or later Move-Out?
Requests for early Move-In or late Move-Out must be submitted to the College President’s Office for review and approval.
When does the RA application close?
Applications will close at 5:00pm on April 18, 2025.
I’ve applied to be an RA, now what?
Applications will be reviewed until the application closes on Friday, April 18 at 5:00pm. Those invited to interview will be emailed by Saturday, April 19 at 12:00pm. Interviews will take place during the week of April 21, and decisions will be emailed by May 2.
Who can apply to become an RA?
Any full-time SJR student with a GPA of at least 2.5 and who is willing to live in the building can apply to become an RA.
What are the benefits to becoming/being an RA?
Outside of a free room in the building, RAs can anticipate enhancement of leadership skills, community bonding and networking through programming and events, development of problem-solving skills, and experience with marketing and leasing.
What is “on-call” or “duty”?
These terms are interchangeable, but they essentially mean that an RA is present in the building to help ensure safety overnight in the building.
How often should an RA be on-campus?
Since RAs are staples of the community, they are on-campus or in the building each night and most weekends. RAs will also be on-campus and in the building during periods of break (i.e. fall and spring breaks).
Where can I find the RA application?
How much is the housing scholarship?
The Student Housing Scholarship provides eligible students with a $200 per month reduction in housing costs for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Who is eligible for the $200 per month housing scholarship?
To be eligible, students must complete SJR State’s application process and be admitted to the College.
How many students will receive the housing scholarship?
The first 170 eligible students who submit a housing application, submit the interest form, and meet the requirements will receive the $200 per month housing scholarship for the Fall 2025 term.
Can I keep the housing scholarship for the Spring 2026 semester?
Yes, students who maintain eligibility for SJR State Student Housing and complete a minimum of 50 documented service and engagement hours per semester can continue receiving the scholarship for the Spring 2026 term.
What are the service and engagement requirements to maintain the housing scholarship?
To remain eligible, students must complete at least 50 documented hours per semester, which must include:

At least 10 hours of community service.

At least 10 hours of participation in on-campus tutoring and/or study hall.

Documented participation in SJR State internships and experiential learning activities, athletic teams, the Florida School of the Arts, and/or student clubs.
How can I sign up for the scholarship?
To sign up for the housing scholarship, please submit the interest form.
When can I sign up for the scholarship?
You can submit an interest form at any time; however, we recommend submitting the form after you have submitted a housing application.
When will I know if I received the scholarship?
After your eligibility has been confirmed, a member of the student housing team will be in touch with you about next steps.
